ONEcharity Gala Dinner Surpasses Fundraising Target for Kuantan Schools

Kuantan:The ONEcharity Gala Dinner has successfully raised over RM500,000 for five Chinese national-type schools, exceeding its initial fundraising target. This achievement was supported by redONE Mobile, a telecommunications provider.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the funds were generated through the sale of exclusive merchandise from redONE Mobile, lucky draw tickets, and a mobile-based online campaign led by Ben Teh, the founder of ONEcharity and redONE Mobile Group Chief Sales Officer.

Ben Teh emphasized the need for fundraising methods to evolve to meet the changing needs of schools and the community. He mentioned that ONEcharity is considering developing a mobile fundraising platform to facilitate easier and more accessible contributions to Chinese education. The platform could also act as a bridge between the Malaysian Chinese community, businesses, and schools to foster sustainable educational support.

Teh expressed gratitude to the East Pahang Chinese Primary Schools Development Committee, school boards, Parent-Teacher Associations, principals, teachers, parents, and participating schools for their roles in the event's success. The fundraising dinner, featuring 108 tables, benefited five schools SJK(C) Semambu, SJK(C) Chung Ching, SJK(C) Kong Min, Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Tanah Putih, and Sekolah Menengah Chong Hwa Kuantan.

Tan Sri Goh Tian Chuan, redONE Mobile Group chairman and Huazong (The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia) Permanent Honorary President, highlighted the company's decade-long contributions aimed at encouraging more businesses and community organizations to support Chinese education. He expressed hope that more entities would initiate fundraising and sponsorship activities to maintain support for Chinese education.

In the same statement, Huazong Permanent Honorary President Tan Sri Fong Tian Sing noted that Malaysia's multiracial society and multi-stream education system are crucial for national unity. He called on all parties to respect these fundamental aspects of the country's diversity.

Since its inception in 2015, the ONEcharity Chinese Education Charity Fundraising initiative has raised over RM5 million for 108 Chinese schools across 11 Malaysian states. These funds have been instrumental in upgrading school facilities, performing essential maintenance, and supporting educational activities to enhance students' learning environments.
