Seremban: Former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun is the only former Pakatan Harapan (PH) state assemblyman to have returned in full the allocations he received, while some others have yet to do so, Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim said.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, several former PH assemblymen, including the coordinators for the Paroi and Labu state constituencies, had begun returning the allocations from June 30 but had not repaid the full amounts received. Datuk Ismail Lasim stated that as far as the Menteri Besar's Office is concerned, the process of returning the allocations began on June 30, but it has not been completed in full. The amount mentioned previously was an estimate of what they received.
Ismail noted that some assemblymen have returned portions of the allocations, though not in full. There is uncertainty about whether the funds were used for public purposes or other matters. Those who have not yet fully returned the allocations are required to provide explanations and submit expenditure records.
The statement was made during a flag presentation for the Selangor 2026 Malaysia Para Games (Para SUKMA), attended by state Youth and Sports Action Committee chairman Datuk Mustapha Nagoor. Ismail mentioned that the Menteri Besar's Office is currently reviewing the allocation records for each former PH assemblyman to ascertain the exact outstanding amounts, as these differed among representatives.
Ismail emphasized that the letters to be sent out will vary based on the records, with some individuals needing to return the full amount, while others less, depending on the balance for their respective state constituencies. These communications will be issued after the review process concludes.
The request for the return of allocations was made following the dissolution of the state assembly on June 5. Ismail had asked all former Negeri Sembilan PH state assemblymen and state constituency coordinators to return allocations for the July to September period within one month. However, he noted that state executive councillors at that time, including Aminuddin, remained ex-officio members until July 31 and could use allocations for that month.
Nilai assemblyman J. Arul Kumar earlier confirmed that allocations disbursed before the dissolution had been used for the welfare of the public, not political activities. The Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman assured that all unspent balances were returned to the Menteri Besar's Office before July 10, accompanied by financial reports for each state constituency.
