Kuala lumpur: The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has launched a 10-day Tax Compliance Operation, codenamed Ops Titan, from today to strengthen enforcement against tax non-compliance.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ops Titan was launched following the emergence of certain parties using aggressive tax planning to evade taxes in terms of transactions between related groups of companies. "This manipulative approach undermines the foundation of fairness in the taxation system, and this issue must be addressed immediately," stated the IRB.
A total of 313 officers have been mobilized to audit 103 companies across various industries to ensure the success of this operation. In the same statement, IRB chief executive officer Datuk Dr. Abu Tariq Jamaluddin emphasized that this enforcement is crucial to strengthen the integrity and fairness in the country's tax system, while ensuring continued tax compliance for the prosperity and well-being of the people.
Dr. Jamaluddin also noted that public confidence would grow when there is positive interaction between the IRB and taxpayers, which motivates IRB officers to carry out their duties with dedication and professionalism.
