Over 120 Experts to Participate in Global Cyber Games 2025

Kuala Lumpur: Over 120 participants, including cybercrime investigators and digital forensics experts from 40 countries worldwide, will take part in the Cyber Games 2025 from May 20-23. National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) chief executive officer Dr Megat Zuhairy Megat Tajuddin announced that the competition, co-organised with the Council of Europe and Interpol, marks the first global-scale event before expanding further into the Europe and Africa regions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Megat Zuhairy explained that the Cyber Games 2025 will follow the concept and spirit of the Interpol Digital Security Challenge, which has been operational since 2016, but will be conducted on a much larger scale. Participants will engage in simulations of cybercrime cases in real-world scenarios, with the tasks designed to test their skills in digital forensics, open-source intelligence, and crypto investigation, including handling ransomware attacks.

The Cyber Games will not only be a platform for intellectual competition but will also provide experts with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the evolving cyber threats and enhance their ability to address these challenges effectively. Furthermore, Malaysia, as the ASEAN Chair in 2025, will host the ASEAN Cybercrime Conference on May 19. The conference will concentrate on ransomware attacks and crypto investigations, drawing attendance from government officials, enforcement agencies, cybersecurity entities from ASEAN countries, and international organizations like Interpol.

Megat Zuhairy emphasized that NACSA will work closely with the Council of Europe and Interpol to ensure the success of this inaugural event, aiming to set a benchmark for future events and meet all outlined objectives.
