Kuala Lumpur: Over 138 million cashless transactions have been recorded through the National Cashless Boleh 4.0 Campaign, which runs from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2024. Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying announced that these transactions account for 86 percent of the total for the 20 government agencies involved in the campaign.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, as the campaign transitions to Cashless Boleh 5.0, the involvement of over 80 additional federal agencies has been confirmed. This move is aimed at further strengthening the country's cashless payment ecosystem. The Cashless Boleh initiative is a collaboration between Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) and the Ministry of Finance (MOF), designed to accelerate the adoption of digital payments within Malaysia's public sector.
The campaign encourages the use of electronic payment methods such as MyDebit, FPX, JomPAY, DirectDebit, and DuitNow QR when dealing with government agencies. Lim emphasized that this initiative significantly impacts Malaysia's digital financial transformation, seeking to enhance the country's digital infrastructure to meet international standards.
She highlighted the campaign's role in improving the security and efficiency of financial transactions, which aids in modernizing the public sector to deliver more transparent and systematic government services for Malaysians. The development aligns with the Malaysian Digital Economy Framework, also known as the MyDIGITAL Economy Blueprint, which aims to transform Malaysia into a high-income nation driven by digitalization.
The government views the implementation of cashless payments as essential for enhancing the security, efficiency, and accessibility of its services. This approach aligns with the MADANI economic policy, which focuses on technological progress and openness, making transactions faster and more secure both domestically and globally.
During the event, Lim presented awards to high-performing participants of the Cashless Boleh 4.0 campaign. The Social Security Organisation (Socso) received the award for Best Participant in Category A for Federal Agencies that recorded more than five million transactions. Additionally, the state governments of Penang, Selangor, and Perlis were recognized in Category D for their participation in the campaign.
