Johor: It is estimated that more than 20,000 companies use SIRIM's testing and expertise each year, said SIRIM Berhad president and group chief executive officer Datuk Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad. He mentioned that these companies span across sectors such as manufacturing, plastics, road construction, and apparel.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, SIRIM has the facilities and expertise to conduct testing and verification, and collaborates with government agencies to ensure industry products, including those used in construction, are safe for use. The statement was made during the 2025 SIRIM Silaturasa event at SIRIM Johor, attended by Johor State Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources Committee chairman Lee Ting Han.

Ahmad Sabirin highlighted that SIRIM's artificial intelligence centre provides training and guidance to industry players through a programme sponsored by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry. The programme targets industries using AI under the Industrial Revolution 4.0 ecosystem. This year, 40 companies are set to receive guidance, with a target of 3,000 companies over three years to become mentors to smaller firms, ensuring Malaysia's progress in technological development.

The 2025 SIRIM Silaturasa event, held in conjunction with SIRIM's 50th anniversary, aimed to foster interaction and build closer ties among industry players, government agencies, media, and academic partners through engagement sessions.
