Over 31,000 Malaysians to Gain from BUDI95 Subsidy Expansion

Kuala lumpur: The government has announced a significant expansion of the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) targeted subsidy system, now including three additional groups and benefiting over 31,000 individuals across the nation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Finance Ministry (MoF) revealed that the expansion encompasses more than 17,900 fishermen registered with the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM), over 4,300 private boat owners listed with the Sabah Ports and Harbours Department, and upwards of 9,700 new driving licence holders recorded by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

The inclusion of these groups means they join over 16 million Malaysians who benefit from the subsidised RON95 fuel price of RM1.99 per litre, compared to the non-subsidised rate of RM2.60 per litre. The government is also working on finalising data for unlicensed boat users in other regions, particularly in Sabah and Sarawak, as noted by the MoF.

Concurrently, the MoF is coordinating discussions between the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) and e-hailing operators to potentially increase the monthly fuel eligibility ceiling of over 300 litres for full-time e-hailing drivers. This initiative seeks to safeguard the income of these drivers amidst the subsidy scheme's implementation.

The ministry emphasized the MADANI government's dedication to executing the targeted subsidy programme efficiently and transparently, ensuring it continues to provide direct benefits to the populace. Continuous monitoring and improvements to BUDI95's implementation will be carried out in collaboration with relevant agencies.
