Kuala gris: A total of 506 rural libraries across the nation are set to receive allocations amounting to RM100,000 this year as part of the "Sentuhan Komunity Bestari" programme. Deputy Minister of National Unity K. Saraswathy announced that these funds will be used to implement a variety of small-scale initiatives under the programme.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the programme aims to enhance reading culture, digital literacy, and community unity through an inclusive approach that engages all societal levels. Deputy Minister Saraswathy made these remarks at the launch of the "Kembara Ilmu Ini Warisan Kita, Sentuhan Komuniti Bestari @ Dabong" Programme at the Kuala Gris Public Field.

Saraswathy emphasized that the "Kembara Ilmu Ini Warisan Kita" initiative is part of the government's broader efforts to reinforce national unity. The programme is designed not only to promote reading but also to instill a sense of national pride and appreciation for the country's cultural diversity.

She further noted that initiatives like this can strengthen national identity and encourage a love for knowledge and local cultural treasures through a community-based and creative approach. The programme highlights the concept of "Harmony in Diversity," which is central to the Ministry of National Unity's vision.

In her concluding remarks, Saraswathy pointed out that Malaysia's cultural diversity serves as a bridge for fostering mutual understanding, rather than being an obstacle. She stated, "Unity is a journey, not the destination. It needs to be sown, cultivated, and practised in our daily lives through community activities, knowledge sharing, and appreciation towards our shared heritage."
