Over 700 Join APM Creative Arts Brigade Since April Launch

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Creative Arts Brigade continues to show progress by recording more than 700 members within three months of its launch in April.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) chairman Datuk Hans Isaac expressed confidence that the target of 1,200 members set by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil for 2026 will be achieved earlier. In the past two months alone, over 700 individuals have joined the brigade. Hans Isaac is optimistic that the membership count could reach between 1,200 to 1,300 within the next two to three months, even though the initiative has not yet expanded to other states such as Sabah, Sarawak, and Johor.

He shared these insights with Bernama after attending the APM Creative Arts Brigade Letter Presentation Ceremony to 250 artists comprising actors, singers, and creatives. The event also saw the presence of FINAS CEO Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib and APM chief commissioner Datuk Aminurrahim Mohamed.

Hans, who received his appointment letter as Associate Assistant Commissioner (Civil Defence), mentioned that the implementation at the state level would occur in stages, focusing on training programs to strengthen the connection between artists and APM. He emphasized the importance of organic growth in membership, aiming to foster an environment where artists can see their potential contributions while becoming more familiar with APM.

The APM Creative Arts Brigade is an initiative designed to unite artists as volunteers, enabling them to contribute their energy and expertise in raising public awareness, effective communication, and community mobilization during disasters.
