OVER 80 PLAYERS SET TO BATTLE IT OUT IN 47TH RSGC WOMEN’S AMATEUR GOLF C’SHIP


KUALA LUMPUR, More than 80 of Asia’s best golfers are expected to battle it out for glory in the 47th RSGC Women’s Amateur Golf Championship at the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) here on July 23-25.

Tournament organiser Ai-leen Tan said that besides the local amateur golfers, led by defending champion Mirabel Ting, golfers listed in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) from Australia, Japan and Indonesia are among those who have confirmed their participation.

“With the presence of WAGR golfers, we expect the tournament status to be elevated. The participation of amateur women golfers from Malaysia and other countries will also ensure the tournament’s objective of being a crucial platform for the development of golf in the country is realised.

“Our aim is to make this tournament a regional affair in a few years,’ she told a media conference to announce the tournament at RSGC here today.

As in previous editions, the players will vie for four coveted trophies, namely the Tuanku Bahiyah Trophy (gross champ
ion); Toh Puan Norashikin Trophy (nett champion); Datin Azian Trophy (team gross champion); and the Clarissa Lee Trophy (team nett champion).

MKH Berhad, Omar Salim and AmBank are the main sponsors, Wellness Cosmetology Alliance Lab is the co-sponsor and Royal Selangor International Sdn Bhd is the trophy sponsor.
