Kuala lumpur: More than 95 percent of game-changing programs under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) have been successfully implemented so far, according to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, emphasized that this achievement reflects the commitment not only at the ministry level but also at the various state government exco levels.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid stated, "We want each state's exco to pay attention to the issue of achieving the allocations channelled to the state government and we want in terms of cost effectiveness to have a lasting impact." He expressed hope that the remaining goals will be fully achieved by the end of the year, during a press conference following the 60th Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) and Rural Executive Committee Coordination Meeting (MEXCBLUB). Notable attendees included Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang, and Perak Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee chairman Datuk Zolkafly Harun.
Earlier reports highlighted that KKDW has identified 42 game-changer programs or key change-makers for 2025 to enhance the well-being of the rural community. Ahmad Zahid noted that the discussions and policy proposals from MEXCLUB will provide crucial input for the preparation of the KKDW Strategic Plan 2026-2030, set to be launched in February next year.
Furthermore, the meeting agreed to adopt the e-Penghulu system pioneered by Perak as a digital platform, which will be expanded to all penghulu offices nationwide. The national target of 70 percent of SPM graduates choosing the TVET route as their first choice by 2030 was also addressed, with a call for rural exco nationwide to support efforts towards this policy goal.
