Over RM8 Million Allocated by MAIPs to Support Asnaf Students’ Education

Kangar: The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) has successfully channelled RM8,439,900 in school aid, benefiting 12,057 students from asnaf families throughout the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAIPs chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor detailed that RM3,207,400 of the overall allocation was designated for secondary school students, while RM5,232,500 was allocated for primary school students. Each student is set to receive RM700, covering essential needs such as RM300 for uniform, stationery, and school supplies, RM300 for educational and character development programmes, and RM100 in cash.

Mohd Nazim emphasized that this structured distribution aims to comprehensively strengthen the basic needs of schooling, academic potential, and character building for asnaf students. A total of 4,582 secondary school students and 7,475 primary school students have benefited from this assistance, making up the total number of MAIPs school aid recipients for the year 2026.

The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, recently officiated the symbolic handover of the aid on the grounds of the Perlis State Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAIPs).

Mohd Nazim highlighted that the aid was channelled through a strategic partnership between MAIPs and the State Education Department. This involved proposals from school managements verified via an online information system to ensure a transparent selection process. The school aid underscores MAIPs' ongoing commitment to the educational welfare of underprivileged students, aimed at alleviating the financial burdens on their parents amid rising schooling costs.

Additionally, Mohd Nazim stated that MAIPs had appointed Muraqib Amil teachers to help identify asnaf students eligible for assistance, ensuring their welfare is effectively safeguarded and the aid distribution process is streamlined.
