P7.5-M Kadiwa grants to boost market for Agusan Norte agri products


BUTUAN: The local government unit of Nasipit in Agusan del Norte received a PHP5-million grant from the Department of Agriculture in the Caraga Region (DA-13) though the E-Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita program on Friday.

DA-13 Executive Director Ricardo Oñate Jr. handed over the check to Nasipit Mayor Roscoe Plaza, together with Regional Technical Director for Operations Rebecca Atega.

‘The release of the Kadiwa financial grant is part of the continuous effort of the agency to enhance the capacities of the region’s commodity suppliers,’ Oñate said during the turnover ceremony on Friday.

The PHP5-million grant will be used for the construction of a Kadiwa Center in Nasipit, which will serve as a source of quality, safe, and affordable agri-fishery products, Oñate said.

Aside from Nasipit, two farmers’ organizations were also granted financial aid.

The De Oro Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (DARBECO) of Butuan City got PHP1.165 million, while the Libas Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LIBAS) of Jabonga
, Agusan del Norte, received PHP1.5 million.

DARBECO and LIBAS will both purchase a delivery vehicle, with the latter also allotting a portion for additional working capital.

The E-kadiwa ni Ani at Kita program is one of the DamA’s strategies to support both farmers and consumers through a direct marketing scheme.
