Manila: The weather bureau has issued a warning to the public regarding individuals who are fraudulently posing as officials to solicit money for a foundation.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) revealed that it received a report about an email sent by someone impersonating a PAGASA official. The email was directed to a contractor, requesting a donation for a purported foundation.

PAGASA, in its advisory, emphasized that it does not condone such misrepresentation. The bureau made it clear that no individual or organization is authorized to use PAGASA's name, or the names of its officials and employees, to seek favors.

The public is encouraged to report any such incidents to PAGASA's Public Information Unit. Reports can be made via phone at (02) 8284-0800 local 1100 to 1101 or through email at [email protected].
