Kuantan: Flood victims here received a special treat when the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, contributed food prepared by chefs at Istana Abdulaziz here.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, a total of 340 packets of meals, including 'fried rice with sunny-side-up egg', 'fried kuetiau with sunny-side-up egg', and 'fried vermicelli with sunny-side-up egg', along with drinks, were distributed at the temporary relief centre (PPS) at Sekolah Kebangsaan Melati.
This marks the third consecutive day that the palace kitchen has been active from 5.30 am, preparing food under the direction of the Pahang Sultan and Tengku Ampuan. The royal couple's commitment is evident, described as a natural trait of caring and engagement with the community, highlighted in a Facebook post by the Pahang Sultanate.
The same post mentioned that Tunku Azizah has instructed the palace chefs to continue cooking and delivering meals to flood victims at PPS locations, especially in the Kuantan area.
The delivery was led by the Comptroller of the Royal Household of the Sultan of Pahang, Major General Datuk Mohamed Zahari Yahya. The operation was conducted by the Pahang Sultanate Disaster Relief Team using a three-tonne HICOM Handalan II GS cargo truck from the 4th Mechanised Brigade, due to the flooded road conditions.
In addition to overseeing the meal delivery, Mohamed Zahari inspected the cleanliness, facilities, and safety around the PPS, following the directives of the Pahang ruler.
Currently, the Pahang Sultan, Tengku Ampuan, and their family are in Bangkok, Thailand, supporting their son, Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah, who is representing Malaysia in polo at the SEA Games Thailand 2025.
