Pahang Sultan Visits Fighter Jet Incident Site

Kuala lumpur: The Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today visited the site of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) F/A-18D Hornet fighter jet incident at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport (Kuantan Air Base): The Sultan's visit underscores his commitment to the welfare of the air force personnel and the importance of the incident that occurred at the airbase.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Al-Sultan Abdullah was accompanied by Air Force chief General Datuk Seri Muhamad Norazlan Aris during the visit. This highlights the significance of the incident as well as the involvement of high-ranking officials in the aftermath of the crash.

Following the site visit, His Royal Highness met with the two surviving crew members at the Malaysian Armed Forces Hospital located at the air base. The crew members involved in the incident are pilot Major Mohamad Azhar Alang Kamarudin, aged 34, and weapon systems officer Captain Mohamad Izzuddin Mohamad Salleh, aged 28. This gesture by the Sultan demonstrates his concern for the crew's recovery and well-being.

The RMAF fighter jet was reported to have crashed on the runway of the air base at 9.05 pm yesterday. The incident has drawn significant attention due to the involvement of military personnel and the potential implications for air force operations.
