Pahang: The Pahang government is set to establish an Artificial Intelligence Data Centre (AIDC) aimed at creating a pioneering online business platform for agricultural products, with plans to begin implementation in January 2026. The initiative marks the first of its kind in the East Coast region and seeks to market local agricultural products both domestically and internationally.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail stated that the project, managed through the Pahang State Development Corporation (PKNP), will employ public computing and artificial intelligence technologies. The development will serve as a large-scale regional smart computing data centre, promoting the growth of the nation's digital industry. This initiative is designed to assist entrepreneurs in marketing their agricultural products and aims to stimulate Pahang's economy.
Additionally, Wan Rosdy announced the Pahang government's agreement, through the State Executive Council (MMK), to develop the Pangsapuri Pahangku housing project near the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) station in Bentong. The project is part of a broader state initiative to provide affordable housing, especially for the younger population, while leveraging the ECRL transportation network.
The state government also plans to implement transit-oriented development (TOD) projects at every ECRL station, encompassing commercial centres, housing, educational facilities, and community projects. These efforts are anticipated to boost Bentong's socioeconomic development by creating job opportunities, improving residents' quality of life, and enhancing housing and transportation infrastructure networks. Wan Rosdy expressed hope for the successful implementation of these projects to ensure their benefits are fully realised by the people of Pahang.
