Melaka:Pakatan Harapan (PH) is set to announce its candidates for the Melaka state election on October 18, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expected to unveil the line-up, as stated by his political secretary Datuk Azman Abidin.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the specific venue for the announcement will be disclosed at a later time. Azman shared this information with reporters following his attendance at the 'Jalinan MADANI Rider Jelajah Melaka' programme, which was also attended by Deputy Higher Education Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim.

Regarding the possibility of contesting the Paya Rumput seat, Azman mentioned that he would defer this decision to the party leadership. Additionally, he noted that PKR aims to contest seven or eight seats, including Machap Jaya and Rembia, in the upcoming election.

The Election Commission has scheduled October 31 for nominations, November 10 for early voting, and November 14 for polling, following the dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly on September 23. In the 2021 Melaka state election, Barisan Nasional won 21 of the 28 seats, while PH secured five and Perikatan Nasional won two.
