Palestinian Quran Memoriser Among MTHQA Participants Today

Kuala lumpur: Palestinian hafizah (female Quran memoriser) Jenan Nabil Mohammed Nofal was among eight hafazan (memorisation) participants who presented their recitation today at the 65th Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly (MTHQA) held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. For Jenan, a 24-year-old student, the MTHQA marks her international debut. She studies at Madrasah Nur liTajweed wa Tahfiz Al-Quran in Qalqilya, about 20 kilometres from Baitulmuqaddis.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Jenan shared, through an interpreter, that she memorises at least five to ten juzuk (parts) of the Quran daily. "I began memorising the Quran from a young age to make my parents proud," said Jenan, the youngest of five siblings. Other memorisers were Moussa Ayouba Idrissa from Niger, Abdulkadir Yusuf Mohamed (Somalia), Mohammad Yahya Al Zahabi (Lebanon), Isha Sowe (Gambia), Dzhalil Nurutdinov (Russia), Md Fazle Rabby (Bangladesh), and Seyma Yildirim (Turkiye).

With the theme 'Developing a MADANI Ummah,' the MTHQA runs from Aug 2 to 9 and features over 70 participants from around the world.
