Kuala lumpur: The Pan Borneo Highway (LPB) stretch from Kota Kinabalu to Kudat is on track for phased completion by the third quarter of 2028, according to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi. The plan includes the construction of a coastal road, which encompasses eight work packages currently under strict supervision by the Sabah Public Works Department (JKR).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the project is part of the larger LPB Sabah initiative, where four out of the 35 work packages have already been completed and opened to the public. The progress of the Kota Kinabalu-Kudat segment varies with each package. Some are nearing completion, while the rest are strategically scheduled for phased completion until 2028.
During a Dewan Rakyat oral question session, Nanta provided specific updates on several packages. Package 10 (Bintulu-Rampaian Laut) is 97.11 percent complete and is anticipated to finish by November 14 this year. Meanwhile, Package 8 (Sepanggar-Berungis Roundabout) has reached 84.24 percent completion, with a projected end date of December 10, 2025. Package 7 (Inanam-Sepanggar) is 87.91 percent complete and is expected to conclude by November 2, 2026.
Nanta emphasized that the 706-kilometre LPB project in Sabah is a significant development priority for the Works Ministry. The ministry is dedicated to ensuring timely completion to enhance Sabah's federal road network, thereby contributing to the region's infrastructure growth and accessibility.
