Pantai bumi hijau: The Pantai Bumi Hijau ecotourism area here is now fully prepared to welcome domestic and international tourists following the implementation of various infrastructure upgrade projects funded through a matching grant from the Selangor government amounting to RM1 million. State Rural Development, Unity, and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rizam Ismail said that the effort to enhance the new tourism destination is one of the main components of the 'Program Gagasan Rumpun Selangor' for the Sabak Bernam district, the third location in the series of tours after the Petaling and Hulu Langat districts.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the state government, under the leadership of Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, has allocated a matching grant of RM1 million to develop infrastructure at Pantai Bumi Hijau to ensure maximum comfort for visitors. Various physical facilities have been built, including the addition of public toilet facilities, shower areas that maintain traditional features, sales booths, a systematic one-way path resulting from the collaboration with the Public Works Department (JKR), and the provision of motorhome or caravan parking sites, he said at a press conference in conjunction with the Sabak Bernam Program Gagasan Rumpun Selangor 2026 at Pantai Bumi Hijau, here today.
The programme was graced by the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and his spouse Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz, who engaged in recreational activities and overnighted in a caravan. Rizam said that the tourism sector in the area recorded an unexpected response as it began to attract crowds every weekend, especially during the school holidays.
The presence of tourists during peak hours reaches more than 3,000 people from afternoon to night due to the uniqueness of this area, which offers activities such as horse riding, family camping areas, flying fox challenges, and the uniqueness of the floating night market. Yayasan Hijarah Selangor (Kohijrah) is also planning the next phase of development, including the provision of nature-themed resorts within the mangrove forest area for the international tourist market, he said.
He said that Sabak Bernam is being developed holistically as an agropolitan city under the Sabak Bernam Economic Development Area (SABDA) project to integrate the tourism, agriculture and fisheries sectors. He also said that the Sungai Air Tawar state constituency area is also planned to be introduced as a traditional village tourism centre to maintain environmental sustainability and cultural heritage in line with the concept of a prosperous city.
However, in the plan for the construction of the resort and new facilities in the future, we place great emphasis on the challenge of maintaining environmental sustainability in line with the recommendation of the Raja Muda of Selangor, who wants the aspects of the ecosystem and cleanliness to be meticulously maintained, he added.
