Parent-Child Communication Essential for Family and Society: Nancy

Kuala lumpur: Effective communication between parents and children is the foundation for building a harmonious family and a disciplined society, said Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri. Nancy emphasized that parents must serve as primary examples, as their behavior and speech at home reflect their children's conduct.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nancy highlighted the importance of parents playing their roles beyond providing basic needs, such as educating and instilling moral values and discipline in their children. Despite busy work schedules and technological advancements limiting family time, simple practices like eating together can strengthen bonds and help parents understand their children's development.

Nancy acknowledged the challenges posed by gadget use among children and urged parents to set firm limits and monitor the content accessed by their children. She observed that while some digital content is educational, parental supervision is crucial to prevent exposure to negative influences.

Furthermore, Nancy cautioned against overprotective parenting, which may lead to irresponsible behavior in society. She advised parents to involve children in daily household tasks to instill responsibility and independence.

In conclusion, Nancy stated that a happy and disciplined family is built through parents' commitment to effective communication and setting a positive example in every action.
