PAS Demands Jho Low’s Trial in Malaysia Over 1MDB Scandal

Pasir mas: Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, widely recognized as Jho Low, should be brought before a Malaysian court to face charges linked to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, regardless of any legal actions being pursued in other nations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man emphasized that Malaysia possesses its own legal framework and is not necessarily obliged to adhere to the United States' decisions or stance concerning Jho Low's case. "Jho Low must be brought back to stand trial in Malaysia because this country has been the party most affected by his actions, which have had a major impact on the economy," he stated during a press briefing following the Pasir Mas PAS division annual general meeting.

Tuan Ibrahim further expressed his wish for the authorities to accelerate the legal procedures, including securing Jho Low's extradition, to facilitate his trial in Malaysia. This call comes as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reiterated Malaysia's commitment to pursuing legal actions against Jho Low, irrespective of reports suggesting the possibility of a pardon for the fugitive businessman from United States President Donald Trump.

Recent international media reports highlighted that Jho Low is among approximately 250 individuals being considered for a pardon by Trump, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the United States' Independence Day, celebrated today.
