Kuala lumpur: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has expressed its appreciation to the government for introducing the targeted RON95 petrol subsidy under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) initiative, which takes effect on Sept 27 for PDRM and Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) personnel. Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail stated that the initiative is expected to have positive implications for personnel serving nationwide.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Finance announced that the BUDI95 initiative will initially be implemented for 300,000 military and police personnel on Sept 27. Following this, B40 recipients of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) cash aid will benefit on Sept 28, and by Sept 30, it will be extended to 16 million Malaysians aged 16 and above who possess a valid MyKad and driving licence.
Mohd Khalid emphasized that PDRM, as a law enforcement institution committed to the Malaysia MADANI aspiration, regards the initiative as a testament to the government's concern for the welfare of the people. He noted that easing the burden of fuel costs can enhance personnel motivation and resilience in maintaining public peace and security.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier announced that under the BUDI95 initiative, the price of RON95 petrol would be reduced to RM1.99 per litre from RM2.05 per litre. This move is seen as a strategic effort to alleviate the cost-of-living burden while strengthening social well-being and national stability.
Mohd Khalid also commended the use of MyKad as an eligibility verification tool at petrol stations, highlighting its alignment with the country's digitalisation efforts. He praised this approach as a reflection of the government's commitment to transparent, efficient, and sustainable subsidy governance.
