PDRM’s Security Management Recognized as World-Class by US

Kuala lumpur: The capability of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in managing security for high-profile international events has been recognized as being on par with leading global security agencies, including those in the United States (US). Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail highlighted this achievement during the recent ASEAN Summit, where PDRM displayed efficiency and professionalism in handling the presence of high-risk leaders, including US President Donald Trump.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saifuddin Nasution stated that PDRM has demonstrated its competence by working closely and effectively with the US advance team. Despite the US having its own standard security procedures, PDRM was the final authority in deciding all security aspects, gaining the trust of the US security team. This collaboration was evident in the meticulous preparations that included a detailed checklist and comprehensive discussions with the security forces of participating countries, such as the US Secret Service.

The strategies proposed by PDRM, including protocol routes, road closure schedules, and deployment of security assets, were well received by the US President's security team. Saifuddin Nasution mentioned that President Trump commended the Malaysian security arrangements, expressing that he felt safe and at ease throughout his stay in Malaysia. This recognition is a source of pride for all PDRM members and further strengthens Malaysia's reputation as a capable host of large-scale events requiring top-tier security management.

The 47th ASEAN Summit, which concluded on Oct 29, brought together top leaders from 10 member countries, as well as dialogue partners including the US, China, Japan, and India. The summit reaffirmed ASEAN's role as a key platform for dialogue and cooperation in an increasingly dynamic global environment.
