Kuala lumpur: The Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Pekida) Simpang Tiga Tongkang Pechah (S3TP) aims to expand its community programmes to involve people of all races, in an effort to strengthen unity and goodwill among local residents.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, its chairman, Saiful Aidil Mokhtar, stated that the organisation does not want to be seen as focusing solely on welfare activities, but instead hopes to introduce more inclusive programmes that incorporate cultural and artistic elements. Saiful remarked, "In the past, we focused mainly on welfare initiatives such as assisting the B40 group. Moving forward, we want to open up our activities to all communities, regardless of race or background," after presenting daily necessities to 120 B40 recipients around Tongkang Pechah.
He emphasized that youth participation will also be encouraged to build understanding, cooperation, and appreciation of different cultures while bridging social gaps within the community. Pekida S3TP also plans to collaborate with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from Chinese and Indian communities to organise more unity-based programmes. Saiful added, "Although our organisation's name highlights welfare, we aim to take a more open approach by organising activities that attract young people and encourage volunteerism."
Since its establishment earlier this year, Pekida S3TP has organised six community programmes, including free 'bubur lambuk' distribution, donation drives for the needy, and assistance with funeral management for B40 families.
