Penang:The Penang Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has been investigating 21 complaints concerning the quality of RON95 petrol. These complaints arose after social media reports suggested that vehicles experienced issues after refueling at specific petrol stations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the director of KPDN, S. Jegan, confirmed that all complaints have been addressed, and investigations are ongoing to identify the problems' causes. KPDN officers have inspected the implicated petrol stations and the vehicles of the complainants.
Fuel samples from both the petrol stations and the vehicles have been collected and sent to the Chemistry Department for analysis. The analysis aims to determine if the petrol contains water, diesel, or other substances. The ministry is currently awaiting the results and will decide on the necessary actions based on the findings.
Last Sunday, Penang KPDN reported that preliminary inspections revealed no water in the RON95 storage tank at a Batu Kawan petrol station, despite the social media claims. The issue came to light after several individuals reported that their vehicles had issues, such as failing to start, after refueling at various petrol stations in Penang.
