Peng Liyuan Advocates for Technological Opportunities for Women and Girls

Beijing: Peng Liyuan has made a call for the creation of more opportunities for women and girls through advancements in technology.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Professor Wang Xiaoyun from Tsinghua University was recognized as one of the five laureates at the 2025 L'Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Awards in May. Her significant contributions to the fields of cryptography and cryptographic mathematics were specifically noted. UNESCO highlighted that Wang's pioneering research has served as an inspiration for many women to embark on careers in mathematics and cybersecurity.

Wang stands out as a leader among the approximately 40 million female science and technology professionals in China. These women have made their impact felt across key national projects and in advanced sectors. They represent nearly half of China's science and technology workforce, demonstrating their essential role in the country's technological advancements.
