Kuala terengganu: A 63-year-old female pensioner lost RM96,000 after falling victim to an online investment scam that promised lucrative returns. Kuala Terengganu police chief Azli Mohd Noor reported that the victim first encountered a Labuan-based investment advertisement on WhatsApp in 2022.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the victim, a resident of Kuala Terengganu, initiated contact with the suspect and invested a total of RM96,000. This amount was transferred through 50 transactions to 15 different bank accounts between 2022 and March 14 of this year, utilizing her savings and pension funds.
Throughout the four years of her involvement, the victim did not receive any returns. After realizing she had been deceived and growing weary of waiting, she filed a police report at 6.30 pm yesterday.
The case is currently under investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which deals with cheating.
