Pentarama Merdeka@Hoho at Berjaya Times Square Inspires Patriotism Among Visitors

Kuala lumpur: Cries of 'Merdeka' resonate around Berjaya Times Square here tonight after the shopping mall was selected as the first location for the PENTARAMA MERDEKA@HOHO organised by the Information Department (JAPEN).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JAPEN director-general Julina Johan stated that Berjaya Times Square provided added value as it was not only a tourist attraction but had developed alongside Kuala Lumpur. Julina explained that the iconic location has been chosen as an open stage to elevate the spirit of the National Day and Malaysia Day 2025. Each stop of the tour will feature performances that integrate patriotic, cultural, and entertainment elements, reflecting the country's diversity.

Julina expressed hope that the performances, starting at Berjaya Times Square, would inspire a love for the country in more Malaysians and convey a clearer National Day message through infotainment by JAPEN.

Meanwhile, Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur assistant general manager (marketing and promotions) Alex Liew shared the company's pride in being selected for the event. He mentioned that the initiative not only boosts patriotism among Malaysians but also introduces the country's culture to tourists, expressing excitement about being part of the celebration.

The programme, now in its second year, returns with a fresher and higher impact concept, featuring performances, dances, interactive quizzes on statehood, and the distribution of Jalur Gemilang flags to visitors as symbols of unity and national pride.

BERNAMA also participated in the Pentarama Merdeka@HOHO tour aboard the specially decorated KL Hop On Hop Off (HOHO) bus, which serves as a mobile stage to promote national messages and the National Day Parade set to occur on Aug 31 at Dataran Putrajaya. Following its start at Berjaya Times Square, the programme will continue at Sungei Wang before concluding at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, with each bus stop serving as a stage to elevate patriotism among the people.
