Perak Craft Festival 2024 Aims For RM1 Million In Sales


TELUK INTAN, The Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation (Kraftangan Malaysia) aims to achieve RM1 million in sales from the 2024 Perak Craft Festival (FKP).

MOTAC deputy secretary-general (Management) Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot, announced that the festival, held at Dataran Menara Condong, features 56 craft entrepreneurs showcasing textiles, forest products, clay items, metalworks and other crafts.

The 10-day event, which started yesterday, is expected to attract about 80,000 visitors.

‘A key highlight is the participation of the Orang Asli community, with exhibits from the Pos Kuala Mu Community Skills Development Project (PPKK) including rattan weaving and Batik products,’ he told the media after a walkabout at the festival here today.

The festival aims to provide a platform for craft entrepreneurs to promote their products, increase public awareness of Malaysian crafts and support new craft communities.

Activities include craft product sales, exhibitions, demonstrations and traditional Perak fo
od sales.

Competitions for visitors feature Coconut Grating, Craft Tug of War, Watermelon Carving, Arm Wrestling and the Merdeka Kids Fashion Contest.
