Ipoh: The Perak government has taken full responsibility for an incident involving an attempted attack on the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, during the state-level National Day celebration last Sunday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad emphasized that the state government would not blame any party, as the incident occurred suddenly and within seconds. Saarani highlighted the importance of remaining vigilant about security matters at events involving dignitaries and public figures who attract large crowds. He made these remarks during a press conference after the Empower Tahfiz Programme at the Perak Darul Ridzuan Building.
Saarani also praised Sultan Nazrin's calm demeanor during the incident, noting that the Sultan stayed on stage until the event concluded. "His Royal Highness remained composed, received the Royal salute, carried on as scheduled, and even mingled with the people afterwards. This is very pleasing, as there was no panic or commotion," he stated.
In a related development, Saarani reported a fake social media account that manipulated his face and voice using artificial intelligence (AI). The matter has been reported to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for further action. Saarani warned the public against being deceived by a fake TikTok account using his AI-generated image and voice, which purportedly offered cash and requested victims to call a specific number to claim the money.
