Perak Government Assures SPM Candidates Affected by Floods Can Sit for Exams

Perak: The Perak government, through the State Education Department (JPN), will take necessary measures to ensure that all Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates affected by the floods in the state can sit for the examination without any disruption. State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Khairudin Abu Hanipah stated that measures include working with agencies to evacuate candidates from flood-hit areas and bring them to examination centres safely and in an orderly manner.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Khairudin emphasized that he had instructed the Perak JPN Assessment and Examination Sector to take all necessary measures, including cooperating with relevant agencies, to ensure that all affected SPM candidates can sit for the examination like other candidates. He mentioned that currently, all districts affected by the floods have SPM candidates, and efforts are underway to gather complete data to formulate a more effective contingency plan.

Khairudin highlighted this initiative after the Seri Iskandar National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) 2025 Community Impact Programme in Kampung Tanjung Medan, where over 40 IKBN Seri Iskandar students participated in a community service initiative to clean the home of a single mother, Faridah Abdullah, in the village.

Furthermore, Khairudin noted that he had instructed district education offices and schools to provide counselling for candidates facing emotional stress, ensuring their concentration on the examinations remains unaffected. Perak is one of the states most severely impacted by the floods, with over 1,000 victims placed in 16 relief centres in Manjung, Perak Tengah, Larut-Matang-Selama, and Batang Padang.
