Perak Hosts 1,296 Rahmah Sale Events From Early 2023.

IPOH: Perak has held 1,296 Rahmah Sale programmes since early last year until Nov 18 this year, making it among the states that have frequently hosted the sales event, the State Legislative Assembly was told. According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Domestic Trade, Cooperatives, Consumer Affairs, and Chinese New Villages Committee chairman Woo Kah Leong said that various parties, including retailers, hypermarkets, regular supermarkets, mini markets, and grocery stores, are involved in the programme. Woo clarified that the items sold during the Rahmah Sale are priced 10 to 30 per cent lower than the market price. He explained that traders collaborating with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry must equally share the discount offered, with 15 per cent borne by the federal government and another 15 per cent by the traders. Meanwhile, Woo, who is also the Pasir Bedamar assemblyman, addressed opposition claims that the Rahmah Sale events are only frequently held in government-held constituencies. He ass ured that the MADANI government has not neglected opposition areas. To illustrate this point, he mentioned that the Taiping parliamentary constituency, with three state seats won by the Unity Government, has each held eight Rahmah Sales events. In contrast, the Larut parliamentary constituency, with three state assembly seats won by the opposition bloc, has held events more frequently, with Selama hosting nine, Kubu Gajah eight, and Batu Kurau eleven, totaling 28 events, which is four more than the Taiping parliamentary constituency.
