Perak Open Pickleball Championship Attracts Global Competitors

Ipoh: The 2025 Perak Open Pickleball Championship, scheduled for September 13 and 14 at the Pickleball Fun Club (PFC), is anticipated to draw international competitors, with a total cash prize of RM40,000 up for grabs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tourism Perak chairman Datuk Mohamad Kamil Shafie announced that over 200 participants have already confirmed their participation, including entrants from China and Singapore. The championship, a national-scale event, is organized by Perfect Sports Pickleball Club in collaboration with Pickleball Fun Club Ipoh and supported by Tourism Perak, marking it as the largest pickleball event ever organized in Perak.

The tournament will feature three main categories: new players, amateurs, and open, which will be divided into six sub-categories including men's doubles, mixed doubles, and men's singles for participants aged 19 and above. Interested participants can contact PFC via Facebook or Instagram, with the entry deadline set for September 11.

Mohamad Kamil highlighted that the championship not only offers rewards but also provides a platform for showcasing new talents at the national level, potentially leading to representation at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in the future. He also emphasized the tournament's role in promoting Perak as a notable destination for sports tourism.
