Seri iskandar: The Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, today officiated the opening of the 'Tanah Abang to Bukit Chandan' Visual Art Exhibition at the Al-Biruni Gallery, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Seri Iskandar Campus, near here.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Perak Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah, Perak Tengah district officer Mohd Zaki Abd Rahman, UiTM deputy vice-chancellor (Development) Prof Dr Md Yusof Hamid, and Acting Rector of UiTM Perak, Assoc Prof Dr Nur Hisham Ibrahim. The exhibition, organised by UiTM's Faculty of Art and Design, features visual artworks and history talks and is a continuation of the 'Pasir Salak to Kuala Kangsar' exhibition held in 2008.
Md Yusof, in his speech, highlighted the exhibition as a cultural platform that underscores the history of Perak, aiming to inspire intellectual movements and foster noble values within the socio-cultural framework, especially in Perak Tengah and the state of Perak. He remarked that the exhibition not only celebrates artistic creativity but also fosters discussions on historical values and lessons, positioning art as a medium of education and heritage preservation.
Md Yusof further expressed his gratitude towards the state government for its unwavering support of the exhibition, which plays a crucial role in enhancing society's understanding of the Perak Sultanate's history. The 'Tanah Abang to Bukit Chandan' exhibition emphasizes the historical journey of the Perak Sultanate, from the traditional roots symbolized by Tanah Abang to Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar.
