Perak: The Perak State Mosque, in collaboration with the State Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk), is set to organise the Majlis Nikah Jamaie' Syarie, a Mass Syariah-Compliant Marriage Solemnisation Ceremony, for the eighth time this year, with 30 couples expected to participate. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Sultan Idris Shah II Mosque on Jalan Sultan Iskandar on December 26.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Mosque Chief Imam Abd Farid Salleh highlighted that the programme aims to alleviate the financial burden of wedding expenses for low-income couples while promoting the concept of Syariah-compliant marriages. Since its introduction in 2013, a total of 137 couples have benefited from this initiative.
"The Majlis Nikah Jamaie' Syarie not only simplifies the marriage process but also fosters a culture of Syariah-compliant marriages that emphasises blessings, moderation, and family building," Abd Farid said during a press conference. He further explained that the uniqueness of the ceremony lies in its adherence to Islamic principles, with every aspect of the event, including attire, venue, catering, and the solemnisation ceremony itself, conducted in accordance with these principles.
Abd Farid also mentioned that couples interested in participating are required to pay a participation fee of RM4,000, with registration closing on August 31. The package offered includes a ceremonial meal for the bride and groom, a wedding banquet for guests, a wedding dais, traditional bunga pahar decorations, as well as a one-night hotel stay with dinner.
