Perak Wildlife Department Takes Action After Tiger Attack in Bukit Bangkong

Bukit bangkong: The Perak Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) has installed a trap and added two more trail cameras in Bukit Bangkong, Chemor, following a tiger attack in the area last Dec 5. Its Malayan Tiger Conservation Unit head, Marina Yusof, stated that this action was prompted by the discovery of predator footprints at several locations around the area.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, two cameras were initially set up after the attack, and two additional cameras were installed yesterday near the site where the tiger's footprints were found. "The location for the trap and the two latest cameras was chosen based on the footprints we previously found," Yusof mentioned during her visit to Bukit Bangkong.

Currently, 10 Perhilitan personnel are stationed in the area to monitor the situation and prevent any further incidents. The recent tiger attack has left residents in fear, as reported by Bernama. The attack resulted in the death of two cattle and the disappearance of five others in Bukit Bangkong, Tanah Hitam, last Friday. The incident was reported at about 6.30 pm by a cattle owner who discovered two of his animals dead with bite marks.

Meanwhile, Hulu Kinta Assemblyman Muhamad Arafat Varisai Mahamad visited the site and urged residents to exercise caution and suspend all recreational activities in the affected area. He expressed confidence in Perhilitan's ability to manage the situation and capture the tiger.
