Dungun: The Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) has successfully captured a sun bear that had been roaming around Kampung Padang Ping here since last week.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Terengganu Perhilitan director Loo Kean Seong stated that the adult male bear, weighing about 110 kilogrammes, was caught in a trap set up yesterday morning. The bear was unharmed and was released back into its natural habitat later in the afternoon.

Loo mentioned that complaints from villagers about the bear's presence in the village and nearby oil palm plantations had raised public concern. In response to the reports, Perhilitan installed a trap and successfully captured the animal.

He advised the public to refrain from taking matters into their own hands when encountering wild animals and to contact Perhilitan immediately for assistance.
