PERKESO Benefits Provide Crucial Support to Family of Deceased Journalist

Kuala Lumpur: The widow of a former journalist who succumbed to lymphoma last week has become one of the most recent beneficiaries of social security aid from the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO), describing it as a vital support system for her family.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anis Sabariah Kamaruddin, 45, whose husband Mohd Khairi Mazlan died on May 25, will receive a one-off Funeral Management Benefit (FPM) of RM3,000 along with a monthly Survivors' Pension of RM2,553. These benefits will be initiated by the end of the month, thanks to Mohd Khairi's final contribution made in June 2021.

Anis, who is now responsible for the care of their four children aged between nine and 20, including one with special needs, expressed her gratitude for the financial assistance. "Alhamdulillah, these benefits will help us meet daily expenses and support our children's education," she stated.

Mohd Khairi had a distinguished career, having worked with reputable institutions such as Utusan Malaysia, New Straits Times, and Dagang News. His passing is considered a significant loss, not only to his family but also to the media community.

PERKESO highlighted the importance of social security protection, noting that it extends beyond mere financial aid and represents a lasting gesture of care and support for those left behind. The organization also urged employers to consistently fulfill their duties to contribute on behalf of their employees, emphasizing that such protection is essential in navigating life's uncertainties.
