Kuala lumpur: The rebranding of all Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) schemes under the 'LINDUNG' concept is the Human Resources Ministry's (KESUMA) efforts to have a clearer identity for schemes that can be easily understood. Human Resources Minister Steven Sim said the approach came from the ministry's determination to uplift worker dignity by making PERKESO the main 'shield' that protects workers through various schemes and benefits.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Steven Sim emphasized the ministry's commitment to worker dignity and protection during the LINDUNG branding gala launch. He stated, "We fight to uplift worker dignity and our determination is the shield that will protect workers in Malaysia." The branding encompasses several initiatives under PERKESO, including 'LINDUNG Pekerja' for the Employees' Social Security Act 1969, 'LINDUNG Kerjaya' for the Employment Insurance System Act 2017, 'LINDUNG Kendiri' for the Self Employed Social Security Scheme (SKSPS), and 'LINDUNG Kasih' replacing the Housewives' Social Security Scheme (SKSSR).
PERKESO allocates approximately 45 percent of its annual collection, totaling RM7.6 billion, back to contributors. This translates to about RM3.4 billion in benefits, including pensions, treatments, and rehabilitation. Steven Sim acknowledged existing complaints from contributors unable to claim certain benefits but stressed the importance of safeguarding the fund for those who genuinely qualify.
The LINDUNG branding aligns with Malaysia MADANI values, highlighting equality and human dignity. Steven Sim reiterated the MADANI society's principle that "no one will be left behind." At the launch event, PERKESO recognized eight employers, such as Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Taruddin and Datuk Dr Mohd Yusof Haslam, as LINDUNG Pesona Employers.
