Perlis: The whole of Perlis, along with four districts in Kedah and one in Perak, are currently experiencing heatwave level 2, as 13 other areas in Peninsular Malaysia remain at level 1.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) provided a hot weather update at 4 pm, indicating that the affected districts in Kedah are Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Pendang, and Baling, while Hulu Perak is the impacted district in Perak.
The areas experiencing heatwave level 1 include Padang Terap, Kubang Pasu, Pulau Langkawi, Kuala Muda, Sik, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu in Kedah, Timur Laut and Utara in Penang, as well as Selama, Kinta, Kuala Kangsar, and Perak Tengah in Perak. A heatwave level 2 is declared when the maximum daily temperature ranges between 37 to 40 degrees Celsius for a minimum of three consecutive days. In comparison, heatwave level 1 involves a maximum daily temperature of 35 to 37 degrees Celsius for at least three consecutive days.
