Perlis Government Nears Completion of Study to Establish Eight New Towns

Kangar: The Perlis government is in the final stages of a comprehensive study aimed at establishing eight new towns, a move anticipated to significantly reshape the state's developmental framework. Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli outlined the ambitious plan, which also includes the expansion of Kangar and Arau, under the provisions of Section 11 of the National Land Code.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Shukri Ramli emphasized that funds have been allocated to ensure the successful implementation and gazetting of the initiative, which is set to commence in March 2026. The development strategy is designed to encompass economic activities and infrastructure improvements that will provide direct benefits to the residents of Perlis. The announcement was made during the tabling of the 2026 State Budget, themed 'Perlisku Bestari Rakyat Sejahtera', at the State Assembly (DUN) sitting.
