Perlis KEMAS Strengthens Support for Rural Women Entrepreneurs

Kangar: The Perlis Community Development Department (KEMAS) is dedicated to empowering women in rural areas, with a particular focus on female entrepreneurs under its mentorship. Perlis KEMAS director Mohamad Zaki Ismail emphasized the ongoing commitment to support these women in business as part of the Wanita Inspirasiku programme, themed 'Rural Women Going Global'.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Zaki expressed hopes that rural women, especially those under KEMAS' guidance, will enhance their family incomes and expand the market reach of their products on a global scale. He shared these insights at the state-level Santunan Desa KEMAS Programme's opening event.

The Santunan Desa KEMAS Programme, a two-day event that started yesterday, was inaugurated by Perlis KEMAS Community chairman Datuk Rozabil Abdul Rahman. The programme featured a variety of activities, including KEMAS entrepreneur sales stalls, Jualan Rahmah, exhibitions by government agencies, an e-sports competition, and a gotong-royong kenduri kampung.

Mohamad Zaki highlighted that the primary aim of the Santunan Desa KEMAS Programme is to cultivate a knowledgeable, resilient, and prosperous rural community while strengthening the ties between the government, community leaders, and local residents. He also mentioned that the programme supports the Rural Development Policy (DPLB), led by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, which seeks to achieve balanced rural development and economic opportunities for all communities.
