Perlis Raja Muda Engages with Malaysian Team at Pickleball World Cup

Kuala lumpur: The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, attended the Pickleball World Cup 2026, marking his support for the Malaysian contingent participating in the tournament.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Raja Muda and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr. Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, were welcomed by Ibrahim Gul, the director of the Malaysian Pickleball Team. The royal couple's visit included interactions with national athletes, led by world champion Jimmy Liong Kai Long, and contingent officials, highlighting their backing for the sport's development in Malaysia.

The event also saw the attendance of the royal couple's daughters, Hajah Sharifah Khatreena Nuraniah Jamalullail and Hajah Sharifah Farah Adriana Jamalullail, along with a delegation from Universiti Malaysia Perlis' International Leadership Mobility programme. The presence of the Raja Muda underscores the significance of supporting local athletes competing on an international level.

Ibrahim Gul emphasized the importance of continuous support from stakeholders, which is crucial for providing national players with greater opportunities for training and participating in international tournaments. He noted that representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) were also present, observing the teams' performance and participation.

The Pickleball World Cup 2026, which began on August 30, concludes tomorrow and features nearly 5,000 athletes from 78 countries and regions.
