Kitimat:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) and its joint venture partners for successfully finalizing the investment decision for Phase 2 of the Canadian LNG project in Kitimat, British Columbia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this decision opens the door for CA$33 billion in private-sector investment. The expansion is expected to position LNG Canada as one of the world's largest liquefied natural gas facilities, thereby enhancing energy supplies to international markets.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the national oil company's ability to execute large-scale energy projects with international partners demonstrates confidence in Malaysia's expertise and capabilities. He conveyed these sentiments in a congratulatory post on the social media platform X.

Additionally, Prime Minister Anwar expressed gratitude to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney for his support of Petronas. He also expressed his anticipation of meeting PM Carney and the Canadian delegation in the future to strengthen the bonds of friendship and expand Malaysia-Canada cooperation.
