Johor bahru: Pakatan Harapan (PH) is focusing its efforts on outstation voters, specifically those originating from rural areas in the northern part of Johor, urging them to return home and participate in the upcoming state election.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor PKR chairperson Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa highlighted that the economic disparity in North Johor has traditionally led to the migration of local talent. She emphasized the importance of these outstation voters in selecting a government capable of fostering development in their hometowns. "We have to just bring them back and make them realise that they also have to play their roles in choosing what is the best government for Johor and working together with the federal government," she remarked during a press briefing.
The comments were made at the Ceramah Perdana Johor Ke Depan Undi Harapan event. Dr Zaliha further addressed concerns regarding the emergence of the new political entity, Parti Bersama, asserting that their impact is minimal. "They are actually a splinter of Pakatan Harapan or splinter Keadilan. So, they're still very new and we haven't seen that much movement of Bersama on the ground," she noted, expressing confidence in her party's enduring connection with the electorate, citing their 27-28 years of presence and the current leadership at the federal level.
The Election Commission (EC) has designated June 27 as the nomination day for the Johor state election, with early voting scheduled for July 7 and the official polling day set for July 11.
