Plight Of Palestinians Among Highlights At PAS Muktamar Next Week

JERANTUT, The plight of Palestinians is expected to be among the issues to be addressed in the 70th PAS Muktamar (Assembly) next week, said PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

He said the delegates will also discuss the economy, cost of living, sensitivity towards the Muslim community, and the implementation of the Syarikat State Government (SG4) Group Sdn Bhd.

‘We are open to providing feedback to the leadership, but I anticipate that several issues will become key topics that we will hear from the delegates,’ he told reporters after the PAS Supporters’ Congress convention here today.

The 70th PAS Central Annual Muktamar is taking place from Sept 11 to 15, with the main events on Sept 14 and 15 at the Al-Makmur Complex in Kerdau, Temerloh.

On SG4, Tuan Ibrahim said it is a mechanism to support the federal government initiatives as well as to coordinate investment projects in the relevant states.

‘We are not trying to compete with the federal government, as we understand that investme
nts come through MITI (Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry). This is a mechanism that facilitates four states,’ he explained.

It was reported that the SG4 chief panel adviser, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, said the four-opposition-led states -Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan, and Terengganu- have established a company to ensure that revenues obtained by these states are distributed fairly.
