PM Anwar Calls for Enhanced Civil Servant Performance for Optimal Public Benefits

Thailand: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today urged civil servants to significantly enhance their performance to ensure the public receives optimal benefits from government services. To achieve this, he has tasked Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Public Service Director-General (KPPA) Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz with the responsibility of closely monitoring the performance of civil servants across the nation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the prime minister emphasized that the call for improved performance aligns with the upcoming adjustments under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA). He specifically instructed the KSN, KPPA, and Treasury Secretary-General Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican to ensure that civil servants exceed previous performance levels. These remarks were made during the closing ceremony of the MADANI Bersama Malaysiaku Programme.

The prime minister also reiterated the MADANI government's dedication to the welfare of civil servants, which has led to the implementation of the SSPA. In August 2024, during the 19th Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (MAPPA), Anwar announced that retirees and recipients of derivative pensions would receive adjustments corresponding to the percentage increases granted to active civil servants, with changes occurring in two phases.

Furthermore, Anwar revealed that officers within the Implementing, Management, and Professional groups opting for the SSPA scheme would see a phased salary adjustment of 15 percent. Phase 1, consisting of an eight percent increase, is scheduled for December 2024, followed by a seven percent increase in Phase 2 in January 2026.
