PM Anwar Calls For Return Of “Sanity” In Global Politics

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for stronger emphasis on prudence and maturity in international politics, stressing the urgent need to restore 'sanity' among world leaders.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, while refraining from elaborating on current global political tensions, Anwar said his main concern regarding international affairs was the need to 'bring back sanity among political leaders', noting that although the region remained relatively stable, other parts of the world were facing serious challenges. He expressed a hope for divine intervention in preserving sanity both locally and internationally.

Anwar made these remarks during his speech at the Foreign Ministry's breaking of fast programme. The event saw the attendance of prominent figures including Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Anwar's wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. Other key attendees included Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, as well as various ambassadors, high commissioners, and officials from foreign missions in Malaysia.

The Prime Minister commended the Foreign Ministry, also known as Wisma Putra, for its dedication and professionalism, particularly highlighting its leadership role in ASEAN the previous year. He praised the team under the guidance of the foreign minister, noting their exceptional performance. Anwar emphasized that Wisma Putra's engagements are aimed at delivering tangible benefits and elevating Malaysia's status as a trading nation through strategic international relationships.

In addition, Anwar launched the Foreign Ministry Strategic Plan 2026-2030, which will guide Malaysia's diplomatic and international engagements over the next five years, further underscoring his commitment to prudent international politics.
